Utility Jobs :: Water & Gas Employers

Thames Water

We believe that having a diverse workforce, where everyone is included in what we do, is not just the right thing to do – it’s good for business too.

We want to create a positive and safe working environment for all our employees, a place where our people know what's going on, what's expected of them, and where they are involved in decisions. Having employees who are from similar backgrounds to our customers: builds good relations, improves our understanding, and helps us recruit the best and brightest people.

To achieve this we are committed to treating our people with fairness and respect, seeing them as individuals, and understanding and valuing their differences. Factors such as sex, marital status, disability, ethnic or national origins, age, sexual orientation, health, politics, religion, personality, working hours needs and work style are important to us.

We believe that recognising and celebrating these differences creates a better atmosphere in which everybody feels valued, talents are fully realised and organisational goals are met.

United Utilities

As well as operating its water, wastewater and electricity networks in the North West, the group also uses its core utility skills to manage other infrastructure assets, through its United Utilities Contract Solutions business. Its principal activities are managing and operating the regulated electricity distribution, water and wastewater networks in north west England, a region with a population of around 7 million.

We've got a lot to offer. You'll join a thriving yet stable company with plenty of long-term opportunity. Working as part of a friendly, supportive team, you'll be able to make your mark right from the start.

We pay competitive salaries appropriate to the role you apply for. The employment package would typically provide a generous holiday entitlement, a contributory pension scheme and the opportunity to buy shares in the Group tax free. These, accompanied with a number of other employee benefits are to the standard that you would expect of a global multi-utility business such as ours.

National Grid

National Grid is dedicated to being the world’s premier network utility. Our core skills lie primarily in the management of large and complex energy delivery networks. We own, operate and develop the high-voltage electricity transmission network in England and Wales and Great Britain's principal natural gas transportation system.

Our UK gas transmission business owns and operates the National Transmission System throughout Great Britain.

Our UK gas distribution business delivers gas to some 11 million homes, offices and factories in Britain via local distribution networks.

BG

Many companies go on about fantastic opportunities, but here's one that knows what it's talking about. Natural gas. The fastest growing energy market in the world today. It's exciting. It's challenging. It's inspiring. Which is why there's never been a better time to join BG Group.

Gas is a growth market worldwide. We are already a significant international player and have a growing share of the market. With an outstanding track record, a strong financial position and ambitious growth targets, our future is extremely exciting.

British Gas Services

British Gas Services is the largest domestic central heating and gas appliance installation company in the UK, providing our customers with maintenance and breakdown cover under our HomeCare range. A growing part of the Centrica Group, its sister companies include British Gas Residential, the nation's biggest residential gas and electricity supplier.

British Gas Services provides care for our customers' central heating, plumbing, drains, home electrics and kitchen appliances and installs domestic appliances and monitored home security systems. In 1999 we achieved BSI Company-wide registration, joining an elite group of only 30 companies worldwide. In addition, we have a BSI Kitemark for new central heating installations and in 2000 we were delighted to receive a Queen's Enterprise award for the field system used by our engineers.

In addition to its contact centre staff, British Gas also directly employs more than 8,000 engineers to carry out its servicing and breakdown services, who look after over 3.4 million British Gas customers.
